F1 in Schools National Final and World Final
Dated: 17/01/2006
This years National Final and World Championships were held on the 14th & 15th January 2006 at the Autosport International Motor show at the NEC Birmingham.
Thirty one teams competed at our National Finals on the 14th January and the judges were extremely impressed with all the hard work that the students had put in to the production of their cars and portfolios, however only one team could win.
After a long and exciting day it was finally revealed that the National Champions were the Bradfield Panthers from Bradfield School in Sheffield. They are the first team to have their name engraved on our brand new F1 in Schools trophy and will be attending the next F1 in Schools World Championships which will be held in Orlando, Florida.
The team won some fantastic prizes including
a Williams Factory tour and tickets to go to this year’s Indianapolis
Grand Prix!!!
The World Championships were held on the
following day with 17 teams from 11 countries competing. The new World
Champions are The Stingers, from Trinity Grammar School in Melbourne,
Australia, who are the proud winners of our very impressive Bernie
Ecclestone Trophy. Each team member was presented with a 3 year
scholarship to study Motorsport and Automotive Engineering at City
University in London.
