What's it all about?

You are a Formula 1® team commissioned to design, construct and race the fastest Formula 1®​ Car of the Future, powered by a compressed air cylinder.

​9 to 19 year old students compete regionally and nationally, with the best teams winning a place at the F1 in Schools World Finals

Process

​Design -  Analyse - Make - Test - Race
Students use 3D CAD Software to design their car, analyse it using CFD software, make it using Computer Aided Manufacture software and test their aerodynamics using wind and smoke tunnels. When ready they race their cars in the official F1 in schools track

Competing

The competition features verbal presentations, portfolio, pit display, marketing and engineering judging sessions, as well as the intense pressure of the 20 metre F1 in Schools track racing.

Where can it take you?

You have the chance to win scholarships to City, University of London, UCL Mechanical Engineering and University of Huddersfield. You can also get a place at the Williams Engineering Academy and be one step closer to Formula 1. Your life can change forever!

The first step is to find out if F1 in Schools is active in your country by visiting our international section:

From here you will be able to choose your country and be directed to the most relevant website to find all the details of how to get involved and how to register a team for the regional finals where you are.

send us an email to let us know that you would like to get involved and we will get in touch.

Spanning age ranges of 9 to 19 our main objective is to help change the perceptions of science, technology, engineering and maths by creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people to develop an informed view about careers in engineering, Formula 1, science, marketing and technology.
