F1 in Schools World Finals 2019 welcomes a new title partner with the announcement that the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has signed an agreement to support the event. The partnership agreement reinforces ADNOC’s commitment to enabling the development of the next generation of the UAE’s talent through its science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) focused activities.

ADNOC has partnered with Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management (ADMM), operators of Yas Marina Circuit, to support the Yas in Schools programme which includes the highly acclaimed F1 in Schools.

The F1 in Schools World Finals 2019 in partnership with ADNOC, which will be held at du Forum on Yas Island and Yas Marina Circuit alongside the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, will be the first event to showcase the partnership.

The highlight of the event will be an Awards Celebration Ceremony to crown the F1 in Schools World Champions 2019 which will be held on the track of Yas Marina Circuit at Turn 1, under the iconic Shams Tower, the most exciting and unique venue yet in the 15-year history of F1 in Schools World Finals.

F1 in Schools World Finals 2019 will bring together the top 55 teams from the global F1 in Schools programme that operates in over 58 countries. This year’s crop of STEM talent will represent 22 countries, all vying for the World Champions title that brings with it university scholarships to City, University of London and UCL Engineering, the coveted F1 in Schools trophy and a VIP experience at the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Andrew Denford, Chairman and Founder of F1 in Schools commented on ADNOC partnering with the event this year, “We are delighted to welcome ADNOC as our title partner for our World Finals this year as part of their wider collaboration with ADMM. We applaud the vision and wisdom of ADNOC, with their support for Yas in Schools and their commitment to promoting STEM learning throughout schools in the UAE. We look forward to showcasing the young STEM talent from around the world and in the UAE at the World Finals and I know that they will be highly impressed by the standards of work produced by the students and will appreciate the value that F1 in Schools has in promoting STEM and in particular, engineering on a global basis.

The ADNOC partnership agreement with ADMM, which aims to enhance STEM-related learning in UAE was signed by Omar Suwaina Al Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office Directorate at ADNOC, and Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit.

Commenting on ADNOC’s support for the F1 in Schools World Finals 2019, Al Suwaidi said: “The F1 in Schools World Finals - presented by ADNOC - is an exciting event which will see some of the brightest minds globally compete for the World Champions Title at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

“Supporting and attracting global STEM programs and competitions like “F1 in Schools” aligns with ADNOC’s strategy to provide our youth with new and exciting challenges that push the boundaries of what they can achieve. We believe that investing in our students today will result in a more competitive workforce for tomorrow.”

Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit, said: “It is fantastic to have the F1 in Schools Finals back on Yas Island and at Yas Marina Circuit. Having the pinnacle event of a hard-fought season just before the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2019 means excellent global exposure for the event as well as giving students the opportunity to be inspired by real-life Formula 1 teams and drivers. With ADNOC on board as a title partner, this will give the programme additional momentum and energy, continuing the positive impact it is making on STEM education in the UAE.’

ADNOC continues to focus on creating a sustainable positive social impact by delivering programs that support the UAE’s future economic development plans. Through its STEM-focused activities, ADNOC is developing the next generation of skilled workers, who will be the driving force of the UAE economy.

Since 2017, ADNOC has launched and supported a number of STEM promoting programs and initiatives including Kumon mathematics, UAE coder program, and it has set up LEGO innovation labs across a number of schools in the UAE.

ADNOC has recently partnered with the Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management, ADMM, to enhance science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related, STEM, learning in UAE, through the "Yas in Schools" program, a youth initiative of the ADMM, which offers schools a pathway of project-based, motorsport-themed STEM learning programs for students aged eight to 21 years.

The “Yas in Schools” program will be provided across the ADNOC’s entire network of schools and technical institutes, as well as government and private schools in the UAE.
